Student Spotlight: Isabella Herman

Isabella Herman It is the business department’s pleasure to introduce Isabella Herman. Isabella is a junior accounting and history double major with a double minor in business and French.  Isabella is currently studying abroad in Rennes, France. She believes that this unique combination of majors has allowed her to explore a career path in non-profit accounting.  This is outside the traditional realm of accounting and finance careers.

This past fall Isabella had an internship with CitiLookout, an organization that offers financial counseling on a pay as you can basis. Isabella helped manage the accounting side of the organization. In the past year, they were able to obtain several grants that subsidized the cost of the counseling sessions. These grants included help for victims of violent crimes and those already receiving benefits from Jobs and Family Services. While reflecting on her internship Isabella said, “This gave an amazing insight into the workings of a small non-profit organization that will help me in my upcoming internship with BDO this summer.”

Isabella said that Wittenberg business has been a vital tool in planning her future. Not only will she graduate with two majors, she will be CPA ready! She owes much of her success to her advisor, who has helped her accomplish quite a feat. Isabella stated “Without [Dr. Fenimore’s] guidance and help I would not be set on the path that I am now, and for that I am forever grateful. He recognizes my desire to do things a little differently and has supported my every step of the way”.

Congratulations to Isabella on her accomplishments so far.  We know that there will be many more to come.
