Honors Convocation
Wittenberg celebrated the achievements of students and faculty during the 麻豆传媒色情片 annual Honors Convocation in Weaver Chapel, April 8. Mya Wolfe 鈥23, Lebanon, Ohio, was named Alma Mater, and Nicholas Bowman 鈥23, Fort Thomas, Kentucky, was named Alma Lux. Alumni Board President Steve S. Shanor 鈥90 presented the 2022 Alumni Association Award for Distinguished Teaching to Associate Professor of Education and Coordinator of Academic Support Sally Brannan. Assistant Professor of Business Suanne Barthol received the Omicron Delta Kappa Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award, while Professor of Biology Matt Collier was presented with the Academic Advisor of the Year Award.
Commencement Speaker
Tim McCarthy '02, former owner of the Raising Cane鈥檚 Ohio franchise, will be the keynote speaker during the University's 172nd Commencement exercises scheduled for Saturday, May 14, in picturesque Commencement Hollow. From English major to entrepreneur, social change advocate, and philanthropist, McCarthy has close to 20 years of experience in the business world, having spent many years building and focusing on RCO Limited, the Ohio Franchise Partner of Raising Cane鈥檚 Chicken Fingers founded in November 2003.
Leadership Awards
From honoring student organizations and advisors, celebrating diversity, health, and wellness, highlighting contributions to spiritual life, and recognizing our unsung heroes, the 10th annual Student Leadership Awards celebrated many who have positively impacted the campus community.
A STEP in the Right Direction
The Springfield Teacher Education Pathway (STEP) Project, a collaboration among Wittenberg, Clark State College, and the Springfield City School District (SCSD) to address educator shortage in the SCSD, has been awarded $130,000 through the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Ohio Department of Education.
Understanding POTS
Elizabeth E. Powelson Professor of Biology Cathy Pederson 鈥91 recently gave the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Ohio Academy of Science. She shared her expertise in chronic invisible illnesses and addressed questions about how long-haul COVID and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) may be related.
