As we gather soon to give thanks, we are reminded what a blessing it is to be a part of the Wittenberg family. Beyond Borders
In an effort to help orphans under the age of 5 who suffer from malnutrition and stunting, Wittenberg students have started the Lesotho Nutrition Initiative (LNI) as part of the university's Peace Corps Preparation Program. LNI is currently partnering with Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati area schools and youth groups to pack 350,000 meals by May 2017.
Called To Serve
Wittenberg has again been named to the President鈥檚 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in the category of General Community Service with Distinction. Wittenberg was one of only six Ohio institutions to receive this honor, given to those institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and that achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. This latest recognition marks the 10th time Wittenberg has made the national list.
International Eye
In light of Ohio鈥檚 swing state status, Sweden鈥檚 largest TV station sent top reporter Jenny Andersson Str枚mstedt, an exchange student at Wittenberg from 1991-92, and cameraman Felix Larno, to Springfield to cover the election. While on campus, the team interviewed students, professors and staff to get more insight into American politics.

Fully reimagined and redesigned, the flagship alumni publication better shows the university's place in the world through the voices and perspectives of its alumni. From navigating the middle school years to why big data matters to service immersion to a tasty family tradition, the debut issue also offers insight from distinguished faculty, as it continues to show what makes a Wittenberg education so special.

Goal Achieved
Wittenberg鈥檚 new nursing program has achieved accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
Looking Ahead
Faculty members have approved the creation of an M.A. in Coaching program. The program was submitted to the Ohio Department of Higher Education during the summer for approval this fall.
Sports Highlights
The fall season finished strong with NCAC Championships in football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. Men's and women's golf also rank among the best in the nation.

Summer research on the Juneau Icefield in Alaska reaffirmed Assistant Professor of Geology Sarah Fortner鈥檚 commitment to engaging students in developing climate change solutions. Students traveling with Fortner included Kate Bartell '16, left.
In The Spotlight
Shelley W. Chan, professor of Chinese language and cultural studies, and Howard Choy, associate professor of Chinese language and cultural studies, were invited to participate in a dialogue with Mo Yan, 2012 Nobel Prize winner for literature at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Wittenberg Athletics Hall of Famer Brian Agler 鈥�80 won his second WNBA Championship as head coach last month. The championship title makes Agler the first coach in WNBA history to lead two franchises to a league title. The former Tiger hardwood standout holds the most victories in the history of American Women's Professional Basketball.
Shubhik DebBurman 鈥�91, biology professor and chair of the neuroscience department at Lake Forest College, credits his Wittenberg experience with helping him discover his vocation. In a recent article by Daily North Shore, he praised his liberal arts education for sparking his 鈥渃reative imagination.鈥�
