Learning Goal 3: Significant professional experience (0-4 credits):

Each student is required to complete either a clinical internship or medically related research. Up to 4 credits may be included in the minimum 20 credits required for the minor. The project need not be taken for credit, but must be of a scope worthy of receiving academic credit. At the conclusion of the internship or research project, the student will present the results in written, oral or professional poster format (format to be chosen in consultation with the student's research or internship advisor) to members of the Health Science Committee or in a public forum for final evaluation.

Goal 3 is fulfilled with fewer than 4 credits; additional coursework may be used from Learning Goal 1 or 2 to reach 20 credits.

  • Health Science 492: Directed Medical Research
  • Other significant professional experience deemed sufficient to meet this requirement

1 A maximum of 12 of the required 20 credits for the Health Science minor may come from the student's major and/or another minor department. For example, a student with a Biology major and Psychology minor will only be allowed to apply 12 credits from these two departments to the health science minor (e.g., 12 credits from Biology, OR 12 credits from Psychology, OR a mix from each department).

2 Prerequisites include junior or senior standing, completion of the Community Service requirement, and permission of the Clinical Internship Director
