Kim Smith came to Wittenberg with prior experience as an exercise physiologist in neuro rehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation, as well as adjunct faculty teaching experience within kinesiology and adapted physical activity. As a faculty member in the Department of Health, Fitness, and Sport, she teaches courses in exercise science, motor learning, and health & wellness.

She received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Wright State University, majoring in Health and Sports Science; a Master of Science (MS) degree from the University of Dayton majoring in in exercise science; and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from The Ohio State University majoring in Kinesiology, with a focus in adaptive sports and physical activity. Her primary area of focus is motor learning, with an additional focus in applied behavior analysis and improvements of health and fitness of individuals with chronic diseases and disabilities. She has received awards for her work in the field and in the classroom, delivering presentations, nationally and internationally, on motor proficiency and adapted physical fitness. Her current research focuses on improvements in motor proficiency of individuals with disabilities, as well as inclusiveness of adults with disabilities鈥 within fitness and health.

Prior to coming to Wittenberg, Smith spent four years at The Ohio State University, where she was the coordinator for the adapted physical activity program, five years at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine, as the Medical Student Career Advisor, and six years as an exercise physiologist with Kettering Health Network.
