To many children going to college seems far off and unfamiliar, so the community service program at 麻豆传媒色情片鈥檚 Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Civic and Urban Engagement offers a special event that brings children onto its campus.
Mini-Witt will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, and coincides with the nationally celebrated Make A Difference Day.
Created in 1992, Make a Difference Day remains one of the largest celebrations of service in the United States. Consistent with its Lutheran heritage and institutional mission, Wittenberg encourages students to give back through programs like these.
Mini-Witt invites children in grades K-6 to spend time with Wittenberg students and participate in a variety of activities for a glimpse of college life. There will be five stations at Thomas Library focusing on different aspects of the college experience led by Wittenberg students pursuing a variety of areas and interests.
In the past, activities at Mini-Witt have centered around such subjects as science, art, literacy, and student life. During the event, children will spend 20 minutes at each station, which will feature interactive games and crafts.
This event allows children to become acquainted with college students and have a little taste of what Wittenberg is all about. In the process, the experience might just produce some future Tigers, too.
